Beach Essentials

Can you tell I'm ready to go to the beach? The countdown is on till I'm beach bound and these are just a few essential items that I'll be packing!

Sunscreen ~ I have used the Victoria's Secret suntan lotion SPF 24  and after sun lotion for the past couple of years and I love it but unfortunately I don't see it on their website this year (have not checked the store). The lotion is thick and offers really good coverage! However, I did find this one on their website but have not tried it out myself. I have heard really great things about the Sun Bum line of products (links in widget below). These can be found at your local Target or Ulta as well! Don't forget to protect your lips too when you're out in the sun!

I'm currently craving this camera! Probably won't be able to get in time for my beach trip but I'll definitely will be taking this camera to capture some great memories from my family trip!

L'OREAL Blow It Dry Product Review

A couple of weeks ago I went to get a pedicure and while I was waiting for my toes to dry I spotted this new product in a magazine. It's L'Oreal's Blow Dry It spray. Not only does it offer heat protection from blow drying but it's also supposed to cut your drying time down. I must say I was skeptical at first but definitely thought it was worth a try so I picked up a bottle at my local Target.

I've never really timed how long it takes to dry my hair but I know it seems like a long time so for this review I timed how long it took to me to dry my hair with and without using this product. When I dried my hair without using the spray, my drying time was about 10 minutes. With using the spray, it only took 7 minutes. I was so surprised and was amazed that it actually worked!

After I washed my hair and got the excess water out with a towel, I used this brush (BEST BRUSH EVER) to get any tangles in my hair and sprayed my hair with the blow dry it spray. I then clipped the top section of my hair with a hair clip and sprayed the section with the spray again. I dried this section of my hair and then repeated the process for the top section of my hair.

I definitely would recommend this product! Not only does it do double duty by offering heat protection and cutting drying time down, it also smells really good!

Red, White & Blue

Here is a little Memorial Day outfit inspiration for you! I paired my LWR (little white romper) with my blue bow wedges and my cross bracelet. I love the eyelet and scalloped detailing of this romper. My romper is from last year, as well as my wedges and my bracelet was a gift but I linked similar options below!

I wore this outfit (well minus the wedges) this past Saturday to Thunder Over Augusta, which is an event that celebrates Armed Forces Day! The firework show was one of the best ones I've ever seen. Here are a few pics that I took with my phone!

Thanks for stopping by! Hope y'all enjoy the rest of your week!

Cinco de Mayo Recipes

Cinco de Mayo is tomorrow! Here are a few recipes that are definitely worth trying!

 Chicken Taco Meat

This recipe makes enough for a large party so if your just making this for a small family you can freeze the extra meat to use at a later time! You can also, put the chicken and sauce in a mixer once it is fully cooked and make shredded chicken! It would be great for tacos, enchiladas & quesadillas as well!

Ingredients:

2 tbsp olive oil
6 large boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 large onion, chopped
2 tbsp chili powder
2 tsp paprika
1 tbsp cumin
salt
14 oz can tomato sauce

Directions:

In a skillet over medium-high heat, add the olive oil and heat until hot. Add the chicken in batches and cook, browning, a couple minutes per side; remove the chicken to a plate using a slotted spoon. Add the garlic and onions to the skillet and cook briefly. Add the chili powder, paprika, cumin and salt to taste. Pour in the tomato sauce and 2 cups water to create a broth. Add the chicken back to the skillet. Bring to a boil, then simmer until the broth is reduced by half.

Let cool, divide among 4 freezer bags and freeze.

Corn and Yellow Rice Casserole

Ingredients:

1 (5 oz.) pkg. yellow rice, cooked as directed
1 stick butter, melted
1 (12 oz.) can Mexicorn, undrained
1 can celery soup
1 1/2 c. Cheddar cheese, shredded

Directions:

Mix ingredients, cook for 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Uncovered.

Recipe via Cooks.com

*When I made this I couldn't find a can of Mexicorn at the store and I didn't have any bell peppers on hand so I just used a can of whole kernel corn and added a small jar of pimentos. I was really pleased with how it turned out!

Chips and cheese dip are just store bought

Ingredients:

Lots of ice (about 1 to 2 cups ice cubes)
8 to 10 fresh ripe strawberries
4 ounces good-quality tequila
1 1/2 ounces fresh-squeezed lime juice
1 1/2 ounces Triple Sec
Simple Syrup, optional
Coarse salt or sugar, for rimming the glass
Whole fresh strawberries, garnish
Lime slices garnish

Directions:

Prepare the strawberries. Fill the blender half way with ice. Add strawberries, tequila, triple sec, and lime juice. Blend until smooth. Simple syrup can be added if you like a sweeter taste. Prepare your glasses by rubbing a lime wedge on the rim of the glass and then dipping the glass in the salt or sugar. Pour your margarita and garnish with strawberry and/or lime. If you are not a tequila fan, you can substitute the tequila with rum and make a daiquiri! Enjoy! (FYI The Dollar Tree has margarita glasses! That's where mine are from!)

Place mats can be found here, mixer here, and blender here!

I hope everyone has a great Cinco de Mayo!

Mother's Day is coming soon! Have you thought about what you are going to get your mom? Here are a few gift ideas that she may like!

DIY Coconut Vanilla Sugar Scrub Recipe from TheFrugalGirls.com

Here is a great idea from The Frugal Girls if you would like to make your mom a homemade gift!

Whether you buy your mom a gift or choose to make a homemade gift, always remember...

"A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts."

~ Washington Irving

"God could not be everywhere and therefore he made mothers."

~ Jewish Proverb

I hope all the moms and moms to be have a Very Happy Mother's Day next Sunday!
